5 Top Things to do During Quarantine

Are you guys bored of watching YouTube and being on social media to the point where it’s exhausting? I do. Because of this pandemic, I can’t really go anywhere, so I try to entertain myself. Maybe with these top things to do, you can also do!

Some people might find this quarantine a blessing because it means you get more family time together. Others may not care or are annoyed that we were all stuck in the house with nothing to do. Well, in Arizona, there isn’t much to do during the summers. No one wants to go out because of the temperature. Either that or people leave during the summer because of the heat.

  1. Reading Books

I have been trying to read a lot more books during this pandemic because of boredom. When I’m not reading, I am writing on Medium, working on my online class, or on social media. I have been trying my hardest to not get on my phone, so I resort to reading.

Although I have been trying to catch up on reading, maybe you can do the same if you want quiet time.

2. Baking

Here’s the banana bread I made

I have been baking a lot during my time of quarantine. Even though I don’t bake a lot, I have been trying to bake healthier desserts and/or bread. I’ve probably made banana bread 3 times during quarantine! I ran out of flour and couldn’t find it anywhere. I even made Boba tea during this quarantine since it makes the time pass a lot faster.

Another thing I have made with my husband is a Japanese traditional cheese called “So” (it’s pronounced as “sa”). Even though we are stuck at home, we can immerse ourselves in other cultures. I have been learning more about the Japanese culture as well as their language. for the “So”, all you do is heat up whole milk in a pan (even a frying pan will work) on a medium setting, and continuously stir until it’s chunky. You have to stir continuously because it will burn and it won’t taste good at all.

3. Painting by Numbers

I did a paint by numbers during quarantine that took about 1 month. I thought it would be interesting to pain by numbers because it was a different thing to do based off of my routines. I bought my paint by numbers kit off of Amazon, if you want to go purchase it. I thought it was something fun and peaceful to work on.

4. Camping

Camping is a great way to be away from people during quarantine. I went camping right before the stay at home was put into action. It took a while to get there, but we got to have family time together. My family had a fun time. We explored different parts of the campground, Tombstone, Sierra Vista, and Bisbee. We had campfire almost every night, played games, talked about nonsense, etc. The place where we went was a perfect place to see the stars. I think the best part was exploring the different places.

5. Room Makeovers

During our time of quarantining, me and my husband gave our bedroom a small makeover. I had a mini fridge that wasn’t being used and finally told my husband that I wanted it in our bedroom. We have a smaller sized bedroom, so we had to find a space for it. We had discussed that we would only move some furniture and ended up moving everything around. We even moved the desk to the opposite side of the room. We ended up arranging and going through our things to see what we could donate or throw away. The process took nearly 3 hours to finish. I still haven’t done the decorations on the bedroom walls.
